Mercedes-Benz GLA Lemon Law

The GLA's panoramic sunroof has drawn some of the most serious complaints. Mercedes recalled certain 2015–2020 GLA250 vehicles because the front panel between the sunroof and windshield may not have been properly bonded and can detach from the car while driving, becoming a road hazard. On other model years, water leaking around the sunroof can reach electrical contacts inside the vehicle — including those tied to the window air bag — which can keep the air bag from deploying as intended in a crash.

Electrical faults are the next most common theme. Owners report random battery drain, a start/stop system that behaves erratically, collision-prevention and driver-assist features that cut out, and dashboard warning lights that return after the dealer clears them. Because so many of the GLA's safety and comfort systems run through shared electronics, one underlying fault can trigger a chain of symptoms that is difficult to diagnose.

The GLA's transmission is a third frequent source of trouble, with drivers describing hesitation, harsh or jerky shifts, and delayed engagement, alongside reports of water-pump failure and related cooling issues. When a dealer needs multiple attempts to fix any of these defects — or your GLA spends weeks out of service — California's Lemon Law may entitle you to a buyback, replacement, or cash settlement.

A recall is not automatically a lemon — it's the manufacturer acknowledging a defect and offering a free repair. California's Lemon Law (the Song-Beverly Act) comes into play when a substantial defect can't be fixed after a reasonable number of attempts, or when your GLA has been out of service for 30 or more cumulative days.
