Because FCA US LLC opted into California’s AB 1755 procedures, the filing window on a Chrysler claim is shorter than most owners realize: generally one year from your warranty’s expiration, and no later than six years from the vehicle’s original delivery date. That is materially tighter than the four-year rule that applies to manufacturers who did not opt in — and several competing firms still publish the four-year figure for Chrysler. How long do I have to file a Chrysler claim?
Not as long as you would think. FCA US LLC opted into California’s AB 1755 procedures, so you generally have one year from your warranty’s expiration and no more than six years from the original delivery date. If you have been patiently waiting on a recall remedy, that clock has been running the entire time.
My Pacifica has been recalled over and over. Does that help my case?
It generally helps. The 2024 Pacifica alone carries eleven NHTSA recall campaigns. Each recall is FCA conceding a defect exists — so the fight is no longer about whether the problem is real, only about whether the fix worked and how long you waited.
I was told to stop charging my Pacifica Hybrid. Is that a lemon?
That instruction is FCA telling you, in writing, that your plug-in hybrid is not safe to plug in. A vehicle you cannot charge and cannot park in your garage has had its use and safety substantially impaired — and you do not need repeat repair visits to establish it.
Who is the defendant — Chrysler or Stellantis?
FCA US LLC. It is the warrantor behind Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge and Ram, and it pays the buyback and your attorney fees.
Can I get a civil penalty?
If FCA willfully refused a valid buyback request, California allows up to two times your actual damages on top of the refund. We pursue it where the evidence supports it.
