A Jeep claim in California is a claim against FCA US LLC — the Stellantis entity that issued your warranty. Jeep has been at the center of some of the largest safety recalls of the last two years, and that recall record is often the backbone of a strong claim rather than a footnote to it.
Your Jeep may qualify under the Song-Beverly Consumer Warranty Act if a substantial, warranty-covered defect cannot be fixed after a reasonable number of attempts, or if it has been out of service for 30 or more cumulative days. With fire-risk defects, the calculus changes: a vehicle you have been told not to park indoors, or not to charge, has had its use and safety substantially impaired the moment that instruction arrives — repair orders or not.

My Wrangler 4xe was recalled for fire risk and I was told not to charge it. Is that a lemon?
It is one of the clearest fact patterns there is. A plug-in hybrid you cannot plug in, and cannot park in your own garage, is a vehicle whose use, value, and safety have been substantially impaired — and Stellantis said so in writing when it sent you that letter. You do not need a stack of repair orders to make that point.
Stellantis recalled a million Wranglers and Gladiators. Does that help or hurt my case?
It helps. A recall is the manufacturer conceding the defect exists. The question then becomes whether the fix worked and how long you waited for it — and those are questions we can answer with the paperwork you already have.
Who do I sue — Jeep, Chrysler, or Stellantis?
FCA US LLC. It is the entity behind Jeep, Chrysler, Dodge and Ram, and it is who pays the buyback and your attorney fees.
Is there a deadline for a Jeep claim in California?
Yes, and it is tight. FCA US LLC opted into California’s AB 1755 procedures — generally one year from your warranty’s expiration, and no later than six years from the original delivery date. If you have been waiting on a recall remedy, that clock has been running the whole time.
Can I get a civil penalty from Stellantis?
If FCA willfully refused a valid buyback request, California allows up to two times your actual damages on top of the refund. We pursue it where the record supports it.
