Genesis Electrified GV70 Lemon Law
If your Genesis Electrified GV70 has warned "Power Limited" or lost power while driving, it may be the known Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU) defect that affects Genesis, Hyundai, and Kia EVs. If the repair doesn't fix it, your GV70 may qualify as a California lemon.
The Electrified GV70 ICCU failure problem
The Genesis Electrified GV70 uses the same E-GMP electric platform and Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU) as the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6. The ICCU controls DC/AC charging and keeps the 12-volt system charged, and it can fail from overvoltage during 12V charging and from thermal loading.
A failing ICCU typically triggers a "Power Limited" warning, then a gradual loss of drive power until the vehicle can't move — a serious situation in a luxury EV owners rely on. Charging and no-start failures are also reported.
Genesis recalled affected Electrified GV70 vehicles (part of NHTSA recall 24V204) to inspect and replace the ICCU and fuse if needed and update software. If the repair doesn't hold, the problem recurs, or your GV70 is out of service for an extended time, California's Lemon Law may entitle you to a buyback or replacement.
Commonly Reported Genesis Electrified GV70 Problems
Not every Genesis Electrified GV70 is affected. Any substantial, warranty-covered defect that can't be fixed after a reasonable number of attempts — or that keeps your vehicle out of service — may support a claim.
Is Your Genesis Electrified GV70 a Lemon?
A recall is not automatically a lemon — it's the manufacturer acknowledging a defect and offering a free repair. California's Lemon Law (the Song-Beverly Act) comes into play when a substantial defect can't be fixed after a reasonable number of attempts, or when your Electrified GV70 has been out of service for 30 or more cumulative days.
If your Genesis Electrified GV70 qualifies, you may be entitled to a buyback (a refund of what you've paid, minus a mileage offset), a replacement vehicle, or a cash-and-keep settlement — and Genesis pays your attorney fees on a successful claim, so pursuing your case costs you nothing out of pocket.

Is the Genesis Electrified GV70 ICCU issue a California lemon law claim?
It can be. The ICCU power-loss defect was recalled (NHTSA 24V204), but a recall isn't automatically a lemon. If the repair fails, the problem returns, or your GV70 is out of service for an extended period, you may be entitled to a buyback, replacement, or cash settlement, with Genesis paying your attorney fees.
Does the same defect affect other Genesis, Hyundai, and Kia EVs?
Yes. The ICCU defect spans the shared E-GMP platform — including the Genesis GV60 and electrified G80, the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 6, and the Kia EV6. See our ICCU guide for the full picture and your rights.
What can I recover for a defective Electrified GV70?
Potentially a buyback (a refund minus a mileage offset), a replacement vehicle, or a cash-and-keep settlement — plus your attorney fees paid by Genesis. Pursuing a claim costs you nothing out of pocket.
