Genesis Electrified G80 Lemon Law
The Genesis Electrified G80 is the brand's electric flagship sedan — and it can carry the same Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU) defect that causes a "Power Limited" warning and loss of power across Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis EVs. If the repair doesn't hold, your Electrified G80 may qualify as a California lemon.
The Electrified G80 ICCU failure problem
The Electrified G80's Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU) manages charging and keeps the 12-volt battery charged. It can fail from overvoltage during the 12-volt charging cycle and from thermal loading during charging or driving — the same defect found across the shared E-GMP platform.
A failing ICCU typically triggers a "Power Limited" warning, then a gradual loss of drive power until the sedan can no longer move — often stranding the driver — along with possible charging and no-start failures. That's a serious shortfall in a luxury flagship.
Affected Electrified G80 vehicles are covered by the Genesis ICCU recall (NHTSA 24V204) for ICCU/fuse inspection and replacement plus a software update. If the repair doesn't hold, the failure returns, or the car is out of service for an extended time, California's Lemon Law may entitle you to a buyback or replacement.
Commonly Reported Genesis Electrified G80 Problems
Not every Genesis Electrified G80 is affected. Any substantial, warranty-covered defect that can't be fixed after a reasonable number of attempts — or that keeps your vehicle out of service — may support a claim.
Is Your Genesis Electrified G80 a Lemon?
A recall is not automatically a lemon — it's the manufacturer acknowledging a defect and offering a free repair. California's Lemon Law (the Song-Beverly Act) comes into play when a substantial defect can't be fixed after a reasonable number of attempts, or when your Electrified G80 has been out of service for 30 or more cumulative days.
If your Genesis Electrified G80 qualifies, you may be entitled to a buyback (a refund of what you've paid, minus a mileage offset), a replacement vehicle, or a cash-and-keep settlement — and Genesis pays your attorney fees on a successful claim, so pursuing your case costs you nothing out of pocket.

Does the Electrified G80 have the ICCU defect?
Yes. The Electrified G80 uses the same E-GMP platform and Integrated Charging Control Unit as the Hyundai Ioniq 5/6, Kia EV6, and Genesis GV60/GV70, and is part of the Genesis ICCU recall (NHTSA 24V204).
Is my Electrified G80 a California lemon if the ICCU keeps failing?
It may be. If the recall repair fails, the problem recurs, or your G80 is out of service for an extended period, you may have a California lemon law claim for a buyback, replacement, or cash settlement, with Genesis paying your attorney fees.
What can I recover for a defective Electrified G80?
Potentially a buyback (a refund minus a mileage offset), a replacement, or a cash-and-keep settlement — plus your attorney fees paid by Genesis, at no cost to you.
