Genesis GV60 Lemon Law

The Genesis GV60 is the brand's electric crossover on the E-GMP platform — and it can carry the same Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU) defect that causes a "Power Limited" warning and loss of power in Hyundai and Kia EVs. If the repair doesn't hold, your GV60 may qualify as a California lemon.

The Defect

The GV60 ICCU failure problem

The GV60's Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU) governs charging and keeps the 12-volt battery topped up. It can fail from overvoltage during the 12-volt charging cycle and from heat during charging or driving — the same defect found across the shared E-GMP platform.

When it fails, the GV60 usually warns "Power Limited" and then loses drive power until it stops, sometimes stranding the driver. Charging failures and no-start conditions are also reported — a serious problem in a luxury EV owners pay a premium for.

Affected GV60 vehicles are covered by the Genesis ICCU recall (NHTSA 24V204) for ICCU/fuse inspection and replacement plus a software update. If the repair doesn't hold, the failure returns, or the vehicle is out of service for an extended time, California's Lemon Law may entitle you to relief.

Known Issues

Commonly Reported Genesis GV60 Problems

"Power Limited" warning and loss of drive power
Undrivable vehicle requiring a tow
12-volt battery not charging; no-start conditions
AC/DC charging failures
Recurring ICCU failure after repair, or extended parts backorder

Not every Genesis GV60 is affected. Any substantial, warranty-covered defect that can't be fixed after a reasonable number of attempts — or that keeps your vehicle out of service — may support a claim.

Your Rights

Is Your Genesis GV60 a Lemon?

A recall is not automatically a lemon — it's the manufacturer acknowledging a defect and offering a free repair. California's Lemon Law (the Song-Beverly Act) comes into play when a substantial defect can't be fixed after a reasonable number of attempts, or when your GV60 has been out of service for 30 or more cumulative days.

If your Genesis GV60 qualifies, you may be entitled to a buyback (a refund of what you've paid, minus a mileage offset), a replacement vehicle, or a cash-and-keep settlement — and Genesis pays your attorney fees on a successful claim, so pursuing your case costs you nothing out of pocket.

Common Questions

Genesis GV60 Lemon Law FAQs

Does the Genesis GV60 share the ICCU defect?

Yes. The GV60 uses the same E-GMP platform and Integrated Charging Control Unit as the Hyundai Ioniq 5/6 and Kia EV6, and is part of the Genesis ICCU recall (NHTSA 24V204).

Is my GV60 a California lemon if the ICCU problem persists?

It may be. If the recall repair fails, the problem recurs, or your GV60 is out of service for an extended period, you may have a California lemon law claim for a buyback, replacement, or cash settlement, with Genesis paying your attorney fees.

What can I recover for a defective GV60?

Potentially a buyback (a refund minus a mileage offset), a replacement, or a cash-and-keep settlement — plus your attorney fees paid by Genesis, at no cost to you.
