NHTSA Recall 26V584000: Jeep Wagoneer Roof-Rack Crossbars May Detach

What the recall covers

Recall 26V584000 (Chrysler reference 81D) covers 97,349 Jeep Wagoneer, Wagoneer L, Grand Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer L SUVs from model years 2022 through 2026 whose roof-rack crossbar pivot bolts may not have been tightened properly. A crossbar that works loose can detach from the roof, creating a road hazard for other drivers and a crash risk.

The remedy

Jeep dealers will replace the crossbar pivot bolts, free of charge. The remedy was not yet available when the first interim owner letters were scheduled — about October 8, 2026 — and a second notice will follow when it is. VINs became searchable on NHTSA.gov on September 17, 2026. There is no park-outside or do-not-drive instruction. Until the repair is done, do not load the crossbars and check that they are tight.

What owners should do now

• Remove cargo, cargo boxes, bikes, kayaks, and anything else mounted on the crossbars until the repair is done.
• Check that the crossbars are firmly attached, and look for movement, gaps, or rattling when you push on them.
• If a crossbar feels loose or has shifted, stop using it and report it to the dealer in those words.
• Check your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls — lookup is open — and ask your dealer to put you on the list for the repair.
• Whatever the fix, insist on a written repair order that records the date, the mileage, and your specific complaint. A repair order is what turns a recall visit into evidence if the problem comes back.
