Audi Q4 e-tron Lemon Law
Talk to a Audi lemon law attorney — your Audi Q4 e-tron may qualify for a buyback, replacement, or cash settlement.
If your Audi Q4 e-tron has flashed charging warnings, stopped charging its 12-volt battery, or lost drive power on the road, you're dealing with a known electrical defect in the on-board charger. If Audi's repairs don't fix it, your Q4 e-tron may qualify as a California lemon.
The Q4 e-tron on-board charger (OCDC) failure
The Q4 e-tron relies on an on-board charger and integrated DC/DC converter (the OCDC unit) to convert charging current and to keep the low-voltage 12-volt battery topped up. On affected vehicles, condensation can form on the unit's printed circuit board because the protective coating is insufficient, causing an electrical short that makes the charger fail.
When the OCDC fails, the Q4 e-tron may stop charging the 12-volt battery and put warning messages and audible alerts on the instrument cluster. If the low-voltage battery is allowed to discharge, the vehicle can lose electronically controlled and assisted functions and, ultimately, drive power — a serious safety risk that can strand the driver.
Audi has addressed this defect by replacing the OCDC with a revised unit that has better moisture protection. But when the replacement is backordered, the repair doesn't hold, or the charging and power-loss symptoms keep returning, California's Lemon Law may entitle you to a buyback or replacement — with Audi paying your attorney fees.
Commonly Reported Audi Q4 e-tron Problems
Not every Audi Q4 e-tron is affected. Any substantial, warranty-covered defect that can't be fixed after a reasonable number of attempts — or that keeps your vehicle out of service — may support a claim.
Is Your Audi Q4 e-tron a Lemon?
A recall is not automatically a lemon — it's the manufacturer acknowledging a defect and offering a free repair. California's Lemon Law (the Song-Beverly Act) comes into play when a substantial defect can't be fixed after a reasonable number of attempts, or when your Q4 e-tron has been out of service for 30 or more cumulative days.
If your Audi Q4 e-tron qualifies, you may be entitled to a buyback (a refund of what you've paid, minus a mileage offset), a replacement vehicle, or a cash-and-keep settlement — and Audi pays your attorney fees on a successful claim, so pursuing your case costs you nothing out of pocket.

Is the Audi Q4 e-tron charging failure covered by California's Lemon Law?
It can be. A defective on-board charger that stops charging the 12-volt battery and can cause a loss of power is exactly the kind of substantial defect the law targets. A recall isn't automatically a lemon, but if the repair doesn't fix the problem, the failure recurs, or your Q4 e-tron sits unusable waiting on parts, you may be owed a buyback, replacement, or cash settlement, with Audi paying your attorney fees.
My Q4 e-tron lost power while driving — what should I do?
Loss of drive power is a serious safety defect. Have the on-board charger inspected and repaired, keep every repair order, and write down each date the vehicle was in the shop or unusable. If the fix doesn't hold or the replacement part is backordered for a long time, get a free case review — your Q4 e-tron may qualify as a lemon.
What can I recover for a defective Q4 e-tron?
Potentially a buyback (a refund of what you've paid, minus a mileage offset), a replacement vehicle, or a cash-and-keep settlement — plus your attorney fees paid by Audi. There is no cost to you to pursue a claim.
