Audi e-tron GT Lemon Law
If your Audi e-tron GT was recalled for a high-voltage battery fire risk — with charging limited and range cut to reduce the danger — you shouldn't have to worry in a six-figure performance EV. If it can't be fixed, your e-tron GT may qualify as a California lemon.
The Audi e-tron GT battery fire problem
Audi recalled e-tron GT and RS e-tron GT vehicles (2022–2024) over a high-voltage battery defect: production issues allowed battery modules to leave the factory susceptible to internal short circuits, which can build heat and escalate to a thermal event or fire. There have been fires, including one at a dealership, and many owners were told to limit charging to 80% — cutting range by about 20% — while awaiting a fix. A full battery replacement can cost tens of thousands of dollars.
When you're told to limit how you charge and drive a performance EV, that's a real loss of use.
A recall isn't automatically a lemon. But a battery fire risk is a substantial safety defect, and if the fix is delayed, doesn't resolve the problem, or your e-tron GT is out of service for an extended time, California's Lemon Law may entitle you to a buyback, replacement, or cash settlement — with Audi paying your attorney fees.
Commonly Reported Audi e-tron GT Problems
Not every Audi e-tron GT is affected. Any substantial, warranty-covered defect that can't be fixed after a reasonable number of attempts — or that keeps your vehicle out of service — may support a claim.
Is Your Audi e-tron GT a Lemon?
A recall is not automatically a lemon — it's the manufacturer acknowledging a defect and offering a free repair. California's Lemon Law (the Song-Beverly Act) comes into play when a substantial defect can't be fixed after a reasonable number of attempts, or when your e-tron GT has been out of service for 30 or more cumulative days.
If your Audi e-tron GT qualifies, you may be entitled to a buyback (a refund of what you've paid, minus a mileage offset), a replacement vehicle, or a cash-and-keep settlement — and Audi pays your attorney fees on a successful claim, so pursuing your case costs you nothing out of pocket.

Was the Audi e-tron GT recalled for a battery fire?
Yes. Audi recalled 2022–2024 e-tron GT and RS e-tron GT vehicles over a high-voltage battery defect that can short-circuit and risk a fire, with many owners told to limit charging to 80%. Confirm your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Being told to limit charging — does that help a claim?
It can. Having to cap your charge and range is a real loss of use. If the fix is delayed or doesn't hold, or your e-tron GT has other unrepaired defects, you may have a California lemon law claim, with Audi paying your attorney fees.
What can I recover for a defective e-tron GT?
Potentially a buyback (a refund minus a mileage offset), a replacement, or a cash-and-keep settlement — plus your attorney fees paid by Audi, at no cost to you.
