Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid Lemon Law
If your Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid was recalled for a battery fire risk — with a warning to park outdoors — or has had stalling or airbag problems, you shouldn't have to worry about your family minivan. If it can't be fixed, your Pacifica Hybrid may qualify as a California lemon.
The Pacifica Hybrid battery-fire and safety problems
Chrysler recalled 2020–2022 Pacifica plug-in hybrid (PHEV) minivans because the high-voltage battery pack can catch fire — even when the vehicle is parked and off — leading Chrysler to warn owners to park outdoors and away from structures until repaired. A fire risk in a family minivan is about as serious as a defect gets.
The Pacifica has also faced other safety recalls, including a side curtain airbag concern on the Pacifica and Voyager, and owners report stalling and electrical issues. Federal regulators have revisited the hybrid battery fire concern more than once.
A recall isn't automatically a lemon. But a fire risk is a substantial safety defect, and if the repair doesn't resolve it, the problem recurs, or your Pacifica Hybrid is out of service for an extended time — including while you're told to park outside — California's Lemon Law may entitle you to a buyback, replacement, or cash settlement, with the manufacturer paying your attorney fees.
Commonly Reported Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid Problems
Not every Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid is affected. Any substantial, warranty-covered defect that can't be fixed after a reasonable number of attempts — or that keeps your vehicle out of service — may support a claim.
Is Your Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid a Lemon?
A recall is not automatically a lemon — it's the manufacturer acknowledging a defect and offering a free repair. California's Lemon Law (the Song-Beverly Act) comes into play when a substantial defect can't be fixed after a reasonable number of attempts, or when your Pacifica Hybrid has been out of service for 30 or more cumulative days.
If your Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid qualifies, you may be entitled to a buyback (a refund of what you've paid, minus a mileage offset), a replacement vehicle, or a cash-and-keep settlement — and Chrysler pays your attorney fees on a successful claim, so pursuing your case costs you nothing out of pocket.

Was the Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid recalled for a fire risk?
Yes. Chrysler recalled 2020–2022 Pacifica plug-in hybrid minivans because the high-voltage battery can catch fire even when parked, and warned owners to park outdoors until repaired. Confirm your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Being told to park my Pacifica Hybrid outside — does that help a lemon claim?
It can. Being unable to safely park the minivan in your garage is a real loss of use. If the fire-risk repair is delayed, doesn't hold, or your Pacifica Hybrid has other unrepaired defects, you may have a California lemon law claim for a buyback, replacement, or cash settlement, with the manufacturer paying your attorney fees.
What can I recover for a defective Pacifica Hybrid?
Potentially a buyback (a refund minus a mileage offset), a replacement, or a cash-and-keep settlement — plus your attorney fees paid by the manufacturer, at no cost to you.
