Stellantis is recalling more than 239,000 Ram 1500 pickups because a radio software error may prevent the rearview camera image from displaying. Here is what recall 26V560000 covers, how it differs from the earlier 26V531000 camera recall, and when it matters.

What the recall covers

Recall 26V560000 (Chrysler reference 83D) covers 239,131 model-year 2025 and 2026 Ram 1500 pickups whose radio software error may cause the rearview camera image not to display. NHTSA records the vehicles as failing to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 111 (rear visibility) and notes the increased crash risk from a reduced view behind the truck.

The remedy

Stellantis will update the radio software over the air or at a dealer, free of charge. Owner letters were scheduled to be mailed September 24, 2026, and VINs became searchable on NHTSA.gov on September 9, 2026. There is no park-outside or do-not-drive instruction. NHTSA lists the over-the-air flag as false even though the remedy mentions OTA, so confirm the update actually installed.

What owners should do now

  • Do not rely on the camera alone when reversing — a Ram 1500 is a large truck with a big blind zone behind it. Use mirrors and look back.
  • Check your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls. Stellantis' separate recall 26V531000 also covers some 2026 Ram 1500s for a camera issue, so a truck can be subject to both.
  • Keep Uconnect software updates enabled and the truck connected so the over-the-air fix can arrive.
  • If the camera still fails after the update, report it immediately and ask for a repair order.
  • Because an OTA update may leave no paperwork, save a screenshot of the software version and date.

How to check your VIN

Confirm coverage by entering the 17-digit VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls or Mopar's recall lookup. A 2026 Ram 1500 may appear under both this campaign and 26V531000, so check the VIN for each. VINs became searchable September 9, 2026.

When this recall can become a California lemon law claim

A recall is not automatically a lemon — it is the manufacturer acknowledging a defect and offering a free fix. Your Ram may qualify under California's Lemon Law if the recall repair is significantly delayed, doesn't resolve the problem, or your vehicle has other unrepaired warranty defects. In those cases you may be entitled to a buyback, replacement, or cash settlement, with the manufacturer paying your attorney fees. For the full breakdown, see the guides below.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this the same as recall 26V531000?

No. 26V531000 is a larger Stellantis camera recall that also touches some 2026 Ram 1500s. 26V560000 is a separate campaign, so a truck may need both fixes.

How is the fix delivered?

By radio software update, either over the air or at a dealer. Confirm it installed.
