Safety notice: Loosened seat bolt may not restrain an occupant in a crash. Follow the manufacturer's interim guidance below until the recall repair is completed.

What the recall covers

Recall 26V268000 (Ford's reference 26S30) covers 179,698 vehicles — about 62,255 model year 2024–2026 Ford Bronco SUVs and 117,443 model year 2024–2026 Ford Ranger trucks. A front seat height-adjust pivot bolt can loosen or dislodge because a supplier torque check disrupted the curing of the bolt's thread adhesive, and road vibration then loosened the joint. A seat with a dislodged bolt may not properly restrain an occupant in a crash.

The remedy

Dealers will inspect and, as necessary, replace the front seat pivot links and bolts, free of charge. Interim owner letters were expected to mail May 11, 2026, with a follow-up once the final remedy is available.

What owners should do now

  • Watch for your Ford owner-notification letters and schedule the free inspection/repair once available.
  • Confirm whether your specific VIN is affected — this recall does not include every Bronco or Ranger.
  • Keep your recall letters and every repair order.
  • If your vehicle is out of service for an extended time, note those dates.
  • If the same problem recurs after the repair, save the paperwork.

How to check your VIN

Confirm whether a specific vehicle is included by entering the 17-digit VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls or ford.com. Inclusion is VIN-specific, not just by model and year.

When this recall can become a California lemon law claim

A recall is not automatically a lemon — it is the manufacturer acknowledging a defect and offering a free fix. Your Ford may qualify under California's Lemon Law if the recall repair is significantly delayed, doesn't resolve the problem, or your vehicle has other unrepaired warranty defects. In those cases you may be entitled to a buyback, replacement, or cash settlement, with the manufacturer paying your attorney fees. For the full breakdown, see the guides below.
