NHTSA Recall 26V185000: Volkswagen Jetta & Taos Blank Cluster

What the recall covers

Recall 26V185000 covers 75,323 model year 2025 Volkswagen Jetta and Taos vehicles. A software error can prevent the digital instrument cluster from rendering at startup, or cause it to go completely black while driving — leaving the driver without the speedometer, warning lights, and other information, which doesn't meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 101 and can increase crash risk. (This is separate from the VW Taos fuel-fire recall and the Jetta engine-fire recall.)

The remedy

Dealers will apply a software update through the vehicle's diagnostic port; if that doesn't resolve it, the entire instrument cluster is replaced, free of charge. Owner letters were expected around May 22, 2026.

• If the cluster goes dark or fails to display, have the vehicle checked promptly.
• Watch for your Volkswagen owner-notification letter and schedule the free repair.
