The VF 9 leans almost entirely on its software and central touchscreen, and that's where owners and reviewers report the most trouble. Test drivers have watched multiple error messages pop up on the central display, and owners describe glitches, freezes, and reboots in a system that controls climate, drive settings, and most vehicle functions. When the screen misbehaves, basic controls can become hard to reach or unavailable while driving.

Beyond the software, the VF 9 has drawn complaints about charging and real-world range not matching the advertised estimates, and about inconsistent build quality — decent-looking surfaces in the driver's sightline paired with brittle, cheaper plastics elsewhere, plus a cramped, low-mounted third row that undercuts the point of a large three-row SUV. Individually these may be annoyances; when they stack up or keep coming back after service, they can substantially impair the vehicle's use and value.

A defect becomes a lemon-law matter when VinFast can't repair it after a reasonable number of attempts, or when your VF 9 is out of service for an extended time.
