Mercedes-Maybach S-Class Lemon Law
Talk to a Mercedes-Maybach lemon law attorney — your Mercedes-Maybach S-Class may qualify for a buyback, replacement, or cash settlement.
A Mercedes-Maybach S-Class is the flagship of the flagship — so a defect that keeps it in the service bay is unacceptable. The Maybach S 580 and S 680 have faced recalls for engine stalling, brake-hose rupture, and fuel-pump shutdown. If yours can't be fixed, you may have a California lemon.
The Maybach S-Class recall history
Mercedes recalled certain S 580 and Maybach S 580 vehicles because a fault in the engine's Camtronic system, combined with the control-unit software, could cause the engine to overheat or stall — a loss of power that's dangerous at any speed. Dealers reprogram the engine control unit as the remedy.
The Maybach S-Class has also been swept into a front brake-hose recall (the hoses can rupture and leak brake fluid, lengthening stopping distance) and a broad Mercedes fuel-pump recall in which the pump can shut down and cause a loss of drive power. Layered on top are the MBUX electronics, air-suspension, and other complex-luxury faults Mercedes owners commonly report.
When a substantial defect on a car like this can't be repaired after a reasonable number of attempts, or it's out of service for an extended time, California's Lemon Law may entitle you to a buyback, replacement, or cash settlement — and because the buyback is based on the price you paid, the stakes on a Maybach are high. Mercedes pays your attorney fees.
Commonly Reported Mercedes-Maybach S-Class Problems
Not every Mercedes-Maybach S-Class is affected. Any substantial, warranty-covered defect that can't be fixed after a reasonable number of attempts — or that keeps your vehicle out of service — may support a claim.
Is Your Mercedes-Maybach S-Class a Lemon?
A recall is not automatically a lemon — it's the manufacturer acknowledging a defect and offering a free repair. California's Lemon Law (the Song-Beverly Act) comes into play when a substantial defect can't be fixed after a reasonable number of attempts, or when your S-Class has been out of service for 30 or more cumulative days.
If your Mercedes-Maybach S-Class qualifies, you may be entitled to a buyback (a refund of what you've paid, minus a mileage offset), a replacement vehicle, or a cash-and-keep settlement — and Mercedes-Maybach pays your attorney fees on a successful claim, so pursuing your case costs you nothing out of pocket.

Was my Maybach S-Class recalled?
Depending on year, Maybach S 580 / S 680 models have been included in recalls for an engine Camtronic/ECU stall risk, front brake-hose rupture, and a fuel-pump shutdown. Confirm which apply to your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Does the Lemon Law really apply to a car this expensive?
Yes — there's no price cap. In fact, because a buyback refunds what you paid (minus a mileage offset), the recovery on a Maybach can be substantial. What matters is an unfixed substantial defect after reasonable repair attempts.
What can I recover for a defective Maybach S-Class?
Potentially a buyback (a refund minus a mileage offset), a replacement, or a cash-and-keep settlement — plus your attorney fees paid by Mercedes, at no cost to you.
