Jaguar E-Pace Lemon Law

Talk to a Jaguar lemon law attorney — your Jaguar E-Pace may qualify for a buyback, replacement, or cash settlement.

If your Jaguar E-Pace has rattled on cold start, flashed a "Restricted Performance" warning, or racked up repair visits for oil and electrical faults, it may be the well-known Ingenium engine and electronics problems. If the dealer can't fix it after a reasonable number of tries, your E-Pace may qualify as a California lemon.

The Defect

The E-Pace Ingenium engine and electronics problem

The E-Pace's Ingenium engine is widely reported to suffer timing-chain wear. The chain can stretch over time, and owners commonly first notice it as a rattle on cold start, sometimes accompanied by a "Restricted Performance" message. Left unaddressed, a stretched or failed chain can jump time or break, which can cause severe internal engine damage.

The same engine is prone to oil-management faults. An electronic solenoid that controls oil flow to the piston-cooling jets can fail — often when coolant leaks onto its connector — and owners also report oil dilution, where unburnt fuel thins the engine oil and reduces its ability to protect internal parts. On diesel versions the emissions and AdBlue (SCR) system adds another sensitive, failure-prone circuit.

On top of the engine, the E-Pace has a reputation for electrical gremlins: premature 12-volt battery drain from parasitic power draws, and InControl Touch Pro infotainment failures such as freezing, rebooting, and blank screens. When any of these defects substantially impairs the vehicle and the dealer can't fix it after a reasonable number of attempts — or the car is in the shop for an extended time — California's Lemon Law may apply.

Known Issues

Commonly Reported Jaguar E-Pace Problems

Timing-chain rattle on cold start and "Restricted Performance" warnings
Oil-control solenoid failure, oil dilution, and oil leaks
InControl Touch Pro infotainment freezing, rebooting, or going blank
Premature 12-volt battery drain from parasitic power draws
Diesel emissions/AdBlue (SCR) system faults and warning lights

Not every Jaguar E-Pace is affected. Any substantial, warranty-covered defect that can't be fixed after a reasonable number of attempts — or that keeps your vehicle out of service — may support a claim.

Your Rights

Is Your Jaguar E-Pace a Lemon?

A recall is not automatically a lemon — it's the manufacturer acknowledging a defect and offering a free repair. California's Lemon Law (the Song-Beverly Act) comes into play when a substantial defect can't be fixed after a reasonable number of attempts, or when your E-Pace has been out of service for 30 or more cumulative days.

If your Jaguar E-Pace qualifies, you may be entitled to a buyback (a refund of what you've paid, minus a mileage offset), a replacement vehicle, or a cash-and-keep settlement — and Jaguar pays your attorney fees on a successful claim, so pursuing your case costs you nothing out of pocket.

Common Questions

Jaguar E-Pace Lemon Law FAQs

Is the Jaguar E-Pace timing-chain problem covered by California's Lemon Law?

It can be. Ingenium timing-chain wear that causes cold-start rattle and restricted-performance warnings is a substantial defect. If the dealer can't fix it after a reasonable number of attempts, the problem keeps returning, or your E-Pace is out of service for an extended time, you may be entitled to a buyback, replacement, or cash settlement under California's Lemon Law — with Jaguar paying your attorney fees.

My E-Pace keeps having infotainment and battery problems — does that count?

It can. California's Lemon Law isn't limited to engines. Repeated InControl Touch Pro failures or a battery that keeps draining can qualify if they substantially impair the vehicle's use, value, or safety and the dealer can't fix them after a reasonable number of tries. Keep your repair orders and get a free case review.

How much does an E-Pace lemon law case cost me?

Nothing out of pocket. Under California's Lemon Law, Jaguar pays your attorney fees on a successful claim, so you can pursue a buyback or replacement without paying upfront.
